11.20.2015 – Garai Gábor: Creating and financing a start-up

The speaker: Dr. Gábor Garai, the Hungarian Consul General for New England and founder of the Hungarian-American Chamber of Commerce of New England. 


Gábor Garai was born in Budapest and immigrated to the US as a teenager. He is the New England Honorary Consul General of Hungary and is a corporate lawyer at Foley & Lardner, a 1,000+ lawyer international firm. He chairs Foley & Lardner’s Venture Capital Practice Group. His practice encompasses all legal and business aspects of structuring, financing and managing various types of venture and other investment funds and counseling technology and life science companies from start-up to joint ventures, to public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. He represents over a dozen Hungarian companies that established a US presence and lectures extensively to Hungarian entrepreneurs and venture capital investors. He also mentors early stage companies at MassChallenge, LabCentral and other incubators. Mr. Garai graduated with a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1976, and earned a B.A. from Harvard College in 1973.
